Our Mission Statement

Honest Bycatch.com was created because of concern about by catch in the Atlantic Herring Fishery.  There is a great deal of evidence that shows these often oversized corporate operations are wasting valuable resources because existing regulations allow them to dump hundreds of thousands of dead and dying Cod, Haddock, River Herring, Scup, Shad, Striped Bass, & Marine Mammals back into the sea.  This by catch has long been suspected of contributing to problems with these species.  The goal of this web site is to present the Atlantic Herring by catch issue in one easy to understand format and to inspire grass roots political action that will lead government agencies to create better regulations for this fishery.
